The superstar: keep doing what you're doing, it's working!

Weak but springy: you have been blessed with type 2 fibres, elastic tendons and a reactive nervous system, but maybe your two foot jump or change of direction is a little low. You will thrive in the weights room, adding strength to your system is the catalyst to becoming all-round elite.

Fit but slow: can go all day but never can really GO! You need strength power and speed training, and less steady state cardio. (Stop going for long runs!)

Strong but slow: a rarer beast you have done the hard work of getting strong but now you need to work on transferring it into the game. You will thrive with the addition of plyometrics, sprint training and high velocity dynamic efforts. . The Rookie: The good news is there is plenty of room for improvement, and the best place to start is with your strength. If you can get just a little bit stronger it will have an incredible flow on effect of making everything else better as well. . The athlete in the top left of this image is Lachie. Lachie is only 15 years old but has this season started playing in the open age Southern Cross Water Polo League for Richmond. Initially just a training spot, Lachie has impressed enough to be getting regular playing time and is now juggling playing in Australia's second-highest men's water polo league (across south-east Australia) while also completing his high school studies and maintaining his regular junior water polo commitments. It wasn't until late in 2017 that Lachie made the tough choice to put his AFL aspirations on hold, giving up a TAC cup squad position to focus on his water polo, after juggling the two sports became too much. We couldn't be prouder of Lachie as he climbs the ranks in Victorian and Australian water polo. Such a meticulous and hard working athlete, his attention to detail, consistency and focus are the trademark skills and attributes that make so many of the best athletes multi-sport and multi-discipline geniuses. We have no doubt he will go very far, no matter what sport he plays. Let's go Tigers!
Holidays are here and it's time for family, friends, sleep-ins and a big two weeks of training before the winter seasons kick off for soccer, football, basketball, hockey and netball.
